Storm victims in Kentucky and Missouri are digging through tornado-stricken neighborhoods and clearing debris after severe weather swept through parts of the Midwest and South, leaving more than two dozen people dead.
MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Throughout this weather event, WKYT has been tracking numerous reports of damage. In Mercer County, Friday marked a scary morning for those at two different horse farms in Harrodsburg. Trish Adams with Fighting Irish Stable said she rode the storm out inside her RV.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office reports that one person is dead following the severe storms on Friday morning.
This morning's EF-2 tornado in Washington County arrived only two weeks after tornadoes caused massive damage in Somerset and London, but forecasters aren't exactly surprised by the rash of severe weather.
The National Weather Service reported multiple homes were damaged in Washington County, likely from a tornado.
"One thing to keep in mind is that many years ago we didn't have doppler radar. We didn't have dual polarization radar," Shane Holinde said.
