Millions of people across the US participated in the "No Kings" protest against Donald Trump on Saturday (June 14) to voice their opposition to the president. The protests took place at the same time as Trump's pricey military parade in Washington,

Social media platforms, collaborative online tools, and encrypted messaging are all helping to power a massive, decentralized resistance to the Trump administration.

As a military parade rolls through Washington, DC, on Saturday – President Donald Trump’s birthday – millions of Americans are expected to protest in what organizers predict will be the strongest display of opposition to Trump’s administration since he took office in January.

The movement, explicitly anti-Trump and anti-authoritarianism, is encouraging cities nationwide to organize and demonstrate on Saturday.

Durhamites took to the streets as part of a National Day of Action, challenging the Trump administration approach to free speech, immigration and the military, among other reasons.

"Being brave for what we hold dear — our freedoms, our democracy, and each other — it's on us, guys," said the actor at a demonstration in New York City on Saturday.
