Meta has banned more than 6.8 million WhatsApp accounts linked to scam operations, as the company fights a wave of criminal activity on the internet.

The FTC also decided to continue the agency’s flawed lawsuit against META (parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram) and Amazon.

The FTC ‘s Click to Cancel rule would have forced businesses “to make it as easy for consumers to cancel their enrollment as it was to sign up.” The rule was to become effective July 14, 2025.
