The US Department of Agriculture has suspended the transport of live cattle, horses and bison through ports of entry along the border with Mexico for at least two weeks. It’s part of an effort to curb the spread of New World screwworm,

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said May 11 that it is suspending imports of livestock through Mexico because of New World Screwworm threats.

The threat from the flesh-eating maggots, known as the New World Screwworm, has suspended live cattle imports through the southern border.
