New York City confirms its initial West Nile virus cases for 2025. Two Queens residents are affected. One has West Nile fever and is now recovered. Another is hospitalized with a brain infection. The virus is present in mosquitoes across all five boroughs since July.

The Maryland Department of Health confirmed the state’s first human case of West Nile virus this year in an adult living in the central part of the state.
