Donald Trump had asked the Supreme Court to delay TikTok’s ban-or-sale law to give him an opportunity to act once he returns to the White House.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against TikTok on Friday in its challenge to a federal law that would have required the popular short-video app to be sold by its Chinese parent company ByteDance or banned in the United States on Jan.

Congressional leaders who championed the TikTok bill last year in the U.S. now want to delay the ban on the popular app from going into effect.
