A federal judge again barred President Donald Trump 's administration from enforcing his executive order limiting birthright citizenship nationwide after the Supreme Court restricted the ability of judges to block his policies using nationwide injunctions.

U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon Wednesday issued a 34-page written opinion after ruling from the bench last week.

As the Supreme Court headed into its summer break, the justices gave President Trump a big win, saying that district court judges don't have the authority to issue the sort of nationwide injunctions that had blocked administration policies.

The ruling left unsettled the question of whether children born to immigrants without full legal status in the United States are entitled to automatic citizenship. So what happens now?
