Families of American hostages held by the Taliban in Afghanistan have asked Joe Biden “to do the right thing” and bring the men home before he leaves office, after months of lobbying the outgoing president to broker a deal with the hardline Islamist regime.

The president has decided not to surrender Muhammad Rahim al Afghani, whom the U.S. alleges worked for Osama bin Laden, unless the Taliban turns over missing American Mahmoud Habibi.

Biden’s call with family members of Ryan Corbett, George Glezmann and Mahmood Habibi took place in the waning days of his administration.
