The 95th MLB All-Star Game took place in Truist Park in Atlanta on Tuesday night. The National League took the victory in Braves country in an unprecedented “swing-off” after the game was tied 6-6 through nine innings.
Pirates star pitcher Paul Skenes, who has just four wins this season despite leading MLB with a 2.01 ERA, will start for the National League. Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal starts for the American League, and he ranks top-five in pitching wins (10), ERA (2.23) and strikeouts (153).
Forty percent of the American League’s starting lineup in Tuesday night’s All-Star Game in Atlanta will be Detroit Tigers. Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres will lead off for the AL and see the first pitch of the game from National League starter Paul Skenes. He’ll be followed by Tigers left fielder Riley Greene.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred defended his decision to include rookie Jacob Misiorowski on the National League All-Star team despite him making only five starts, noting "the excitement that was going to be generated" and "the fan interest in seeing this guy,
MLB All-Star Game is set for Tuesday night at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. We already knew that Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates will be the starting pitcher for the National League and that reigning American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers will be his counterpart.
MLB has been experimenting with the automated ball-strike system in the minor leagues since 2019 and will use it in an All-Star Game for the first time Tuesday.
