Thailand bombed Cambodia with F-16 fighter jets on Thursday, as relations between the two countries imploded following clashes on a disputed border near the Emerald Triangle.
Fighting between Thailand and Cambodia over disputed border areas has entered its third day, leaving at least 32 dead and displacing more than 80,000 people.
The Cambodian and Thai prime ministers announced on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that they had agreed to a ceasefire starting at midnight.
The council did not issue a statement but a council diplomat said all 15 members called on the parties to deescalate, show restraint and resolve the dispute peacefully.
Both nations accused each other of starting the military clashes and have downgraded their diplomatic relations since Wednesday. Thailand also sealed all land border crossings with Cambodia.
The ceasefire comes amid pressure from Trump, who said on Truth Social on Saturday that he'd pause trade tariff talks with both countries if hostilities continued. Thailand had initially rejected the offer of a third party mediation but changed its tune following Trump's tariff threat.
