Johnson, who played for Nottingham Panthers, died after his neck was sliced in a collision with Sheffield Steelers defenseman Matt Petgrave during a game on October 28, 2023.

"We note the recent update from South Yorkshire police that no charges will be brought against Matt Petgrave following the death of Adam Johnson in October 2023," the league said in a statement.

UK prosecutors have decided not to press charges against Matt Petgrave in the death of American ice hockey player Adam Johnson.

Johnson played for the Nottingham Panthers and died shortly after his neck had been sliced in a collision with Sheffield Steelers defenseman Matt Petgrave during a game on Oct. 28, 2023.
