Star lefty David Peterson pitched out of trouble for six effective innings and the New York Mets held off the San Francisco Giants 2-1 for their sixth consecutive victory.

Although the Mets won the game, the offense fell back asleep after a big night last night. The Mets left ten men on base and went just 2-11 with runners in scoring position. With three strikeouts, Tyrone Taylor is making the case for the Mets to upgrade at center field before the end of the week.

David Peterson is doing that last part very, very well this season. And in the Mets' 2-1 win over the Giants at Oracle Park on Saturday night – their sixth victory in a row – the big lefty continued the trend.

Mark Vientos' two-out, two-run double in the sixth inning gave the Mets the lead, and four Mets pitchers combined to make it stand up as New York made it two straight over the host San Francisco Giants with a 2-1 victory Saturday night.
