“The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” the newest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s best-reviewed and biggest hits in recent years after making $23 million in Thursday previews, a strong showing after the last “Fantastic Four” movie flopped.
Fantastic Four: First Steps opened to an estimated $57 million in the United States on Friday, including preview screenings, making it the second-largest opening day of the year. The figure puts the Marvel Cinematic Universe entry just behind A Minecraft Movie, which earned $57.11 million on its opening day.
First Steps marks the official introduction of the superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox.
First Steps is coming in lighter than projections in its first box office weekend with $117.6 million. Still records were broken.
First Steps has already surpassed Marvel Studios’ biggest movie from last year, Deadpool & Wolverine, at the Paris box office. The Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby-led film is opening in theaters on July 25 and is one of the most anticipated movies of 2025.
Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby lead an impressive acting ensemble, but the film doesn't exactly achieve greatness.
