North Carolina Tar Heels coach Bill Belichick is not shy about referring to past greats when showing his new team how to get things done. Belichick revealed in a recent interview that he has shown highlight tapes of past New England Patriots players as a teaching tool for his current players.

Bill Belichick is bringing what worked in the NFL to the college level. The UNC coach had plenty of success in the NFL, including eight Super Bowl victories — six with the New England Patriots. However, he has never coached at the college level. So in order to get the Tar Heels ready for the 2025 season, Belichick broke out some old film.

It was 2002, and the former second-round pick had just turned 30. He was a free agent for the first time in his career, on the verge of a decent payday, but he had endured countless ankle injuries, and his primary goal was to protect his body for the long term. Bill Belichick did not seem like the guy to do it.
