Nvidia To Resume China Chip Sales Again With RTX Pro
This is the second time that Nvidia’s permission to sell in China has changed. As widely reported in April, the firm got re-approved to sell chips to China after a dinner meeting between Huang and Trump in the spring, apparently including a tit-for-tat deal in which Nvidia would create new server setups stateside.
China regains access to Nvidia chips after US lifts restrictions
Nvidia had already custom-designed the H20 chip for China after US export restrictions, but it was banned in April, leading to an estimated cost of $10-15 billion in lost sales and a further $5.5 billion in inventory write-offs. The costs were so significant that Nvidia declared these losses in its quarterly earnings report.
