James Gunn's Superman takes the idea of Ultraman being Superman's equivalent one step further. By making Ultraman a creation of Lex Luthor, it saves Gunn from having to contend with all the alternate Earth stuff that plays a large part in DC's comics. television series Smallville Tom Welling
