St. Joseph has been under similar conditions to the Kansas City area with heavy rain and flooding. More storms are expected throughout the day.
Additional rain and thunderstorms will move in Friday evening, potentially leading to more flooding and severe weather.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Hours of overnight rain caused concern early Friday morning for drivers. The Missouri Department of Transportation reported water standing in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at the Benton Curve heading into downtown. Water is also standing on I-70 near Noland Road in Independence as of 4 a.m.
A flood watch is in effect from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning for the Kansas City area, including Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, and Wyandotte counties in Kansas, as well as Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Johnson, Platte, and Ray counties in Missouri.
