Gov. Kay Ivey on Tuesday signed into law a bill to give the governor’s office more control over the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs. The bill makes the commissioner of the ADVA an appointee of the governor and member of the governor’s cabinet.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law a bill banning Glock switches and other conversion devices that convert semi-automatic weapons into machine guns.

The legislation makes it a state crime to possess the devices, which turn semi-automatic firearms into automatic ones.
