NFL owners will discuss a resolution at next week's Spring League Meeting that would allow NFL players to participate in flag football during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the league announced on Thursday.

There’s no blocking or tackling, so players must rely on agility to evade defenders. Flag football is played 5-on-5 on a 70x25 yard field with 10 yard end zones. Each team gets four attempts to reach midfield, then another four tries to score a touchdown.

The NFL proposal will also include some caveats to protect teams in case of an injury. The proposal would add rules to add salary cap credit to a team if one of their players is injured while participating in flag football.
