Costa Rican officials said Monday night that the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees player Brett Gardner may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Miller’s cause of death was revealed by Randall Zúñiga, General Director of Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigative Agency (OIJ), who shared the toxicology results in a statement to press.

The 14-year-old had 64% saturation of carboxyhemoglobin in his blood. The deadly level is 50%, officials said.
