The Michael B. Jordan period vampire movie was a smash hit, so sequel talk is inevitable. Before Ryan Coogler’s Sinners was released into the world, he was not thinking of it as the start of a franchise. In an interview published three days prior to the film’s release, the writer and director made that abundantly clear.

Coogler previously thanked fellow filmmakers Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, and Brian De Palma for helping to inspire his leap of faith with “Sinners.” He also credited audiences for purchasing tickets to go to the feature in theaters.

Ryan Coogler has no plans for a Sinners sequel, which is by design. In a resurfaced interview posted before the Michael B. Jordan-starring film was released in theaters, the filmmaker said he thought of Sinners as a “full meal.”
