Sheriff’s officials were warning the public Saturday to be on the lookout for a possibly live grenade — one of two that were found at a Santa Monica apartment building storage unit last week, after the other one detonated the following day in East Los Angeles, killing three sheriff’s detectives.

Authorities investigating the deadly blast at a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department training facility are looking into connections to some explosives collected in Santa Monica.

Arson and Explosives detectives believed two grenades found at the complex were inert, but took them to be destroyed and rendered safe.

The department said it's working to confirm whether an apparent grenade discovered in Santa Monica on Thursday night caused the explosion that killed three deputies Friday.

Officials were looking into whether the explosion, which killed three sheriff’s deputies, was caused by devices seized from a condo in Santa Monica a day before the blast.
