Destructive winds reaching 90km/h and 400mm of rainfall are forecast to batter south-east Queensland and parts of northern NSW in the coming days as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches the coast. The Bureau of Meteorology said Alfred is expected to reintensify into a category two cyclone tomorrow as it makes a U-turn in the Coral Sea over the next 24 hours and barrels towards Queensland.

Australia’s east coast is closely watching Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which has been churning and strengthening over the Coral Sea. Although the storm is expected to stay offshore for now, it’s still set to bring gusty winds, rising swells and hazardous surf conditions to Queensland’s heavily populated coastline in the coming days.
